As Always, Changes

Change is a part of everything in life. We all know this. Some folks have wondered about what’s going on with the Square Pegs these days. They’ve got a Facebook fan page now, and if you check the list, you see the following:

Andrew Peterson
Jill Phillips
Ben Shive
Jeremy Casella
Eric Peters
Lori Chaffer
Randall Goodgame
Andrew Osenga
Don Chaffer
Andy Gullahorn

Obviously, there are two new names on that list: the Chaffers are in Nashville now! And there are two names off of that list: Derek Webb and Chris Mason.

I don’t really think that it’s a big deal when the membership of the Pegs changes. This is no different than going from 13 to 9 back in 2007. It’s important to remember that the SPA is a very loose alliance of friends who make music together; it’s not a record label, it’s not a “damn the man” thing. It’s not that there was some insurrection to boot Derek out or something. Last we checked with Chris, he just wasn’t doing that much music stuff anymore. [I know, we're sad, too.] Seasons come and go with people, and so it is with the SPA.

It is what it is. We won’t enjoy Derek or Chris’s music any less. We will getting some more SPA visibility with the Chaffers. Life’s like that, and we embrace the changes as they come.

[And now for me to get back to my groove in posting here more often. Sorry about that.]

Square Pegs at Cornerstone Festival

The Square Peg Alliance have been confirmed for Cornerstone Festival this summer in Bushnell, Illinois, according to the Festival website.

Details forthcoming about when each of the artists will perform and on what stages.

Do you ever feel like you bit off more than you can chew? That’s how I feel right now. A while back i got the idea that SPA.net needed a podcast. So I set out to make one.

In general, I wanted it to be an informative look into the world of the Square Peg Alliance. With that in mind, each episode will have Square Peg news and will feature and interview with at least one of the SPA folks. Our first episode features an interview with Derek Webb. If you have questions and/or comments, feel free to shoot an email.
